The initial material samples were tested together with the artist. During the last months, the blacksmith realized the work with Ulrich Vogl. First, test pieces had to be produced to prepare for the difficult process of drawing and turning wrought bronze. Only highly experienced blacksmiths still master this craft. It requires a lot of knowledge and skill to bend the wrought bronze into the right shape. He takes up the aesthetics and atmosphere, the functions of the museum and the architecture.\u003Cbr />\u003Cbr />Ulrich Vogl is often inspired by everyday objects produced as mass commodities. He mostly alters them only minimally. With this programmatic approach of making industrially produced or prefabricated things the starting point of his works, the artist gets to the heart of a profound change that took place in the course of the 19\u003Csup>th\u003C/sup> century: industrialization and the attendant change of the work processes through mass production in factories.\u003C/p>\n\u003Cp>The \u003Cem>Käscher \u003C/em>is modeled on a so-called chinoise or fondue sieve used for Asian fondues. Vogl changes the material, the manufacturing method and, of course, the dimensions, transforming the small, inconspicuous article of daily use into a large piece.\u003C/p>\n\u003Cp>The new dimensions and the change in material from stainless or chrome-plated steel to wrought bronze necessitate the change to an old craft that only few still master today: Drawing, shaping and turning wrought bronze requires knowledge, strength and dexterity. In the artwork, the artist reverses the development from a mass product to a handcrafted unique piece. The current focus is on sustainability aspects, production processes and values, resource-efficient and correct materials, as well as low-cost building methods and designs.\u003C/p>\n\u003Cp>The artwork is based on the notion of beauty as «purposiveness without a (definite) purpose,» as formulated by Immanuel Kant in his \u003Cem>Critique of Judgment\u003C/em>.
