Aykan Safoğlu, who is a resident artist at the Chretzeturm from September to November 2023, will show his 12-minute film Hundsstern steigt ab (2020). The essay film deals with the artist's personal experience of migrating from Turkey to Germany. He intertwines personal experiences and family history with world history and delves into topics such as migration, relationships, and gender in an inner dialogue. The following discussion provides insight into his artistic practice, which contrasts intimate memory work with media conventions and questions remembrance, documentation, and reproduction in film, photography, and performance. Followed by an apéro.
